TCYSA Tryouts FAQ's

What should we bring to tryouts?

FOR PLAYERS:

Soccer at the Academy, Challenge and Classic levels involves much more contact than at the recreation level. Your child must wear shin guards and appropriate shoes or he or she will not be allowed onto the field. NO exceptions. Wearing the proper equipment helps minimize the risk that your child will be injured during play.

Your child also should bring a properly inflated, appropriately sized soccer ball for his or her age of play.

And your child should bring a water bottle with at least 16 ounces of fluid. Evaluators will provide breaks to allow players to re-hydrate.

Finally, all players should bring their parents to tryouts. There often are questions that need to be answered, signatures to be obtained or fees to be collected. We will not let your child participate in tryout sessions unless his or her parent or legal guardian checks in.

FOR PARENTS:

Parents must have paid the player’s $25 registration fee (or $45 late registration fee) and signed a waiver before a player will be allowed to take the field for tryouts

Also needed:

  • A copy of the player’s birth certificate.
  • NCYSA Medical Waiver Form completed and notarized
  • A 1-by-1-inch head shot (similar to a driver’s license photo) for the player’s NCYSA registration card.  The player’s first initial, last name and birth date should be written on the back.
