Twins Announces 2014-15 Organizational Structure

Press Release – Wednesday, May 21st, 2014

--Advance, NC— Twin City Youth Soccer Association announces 2014-15 Organizational Structure and Staff Changes

Twin City Youth Soccer Association is pleased to announce its 2014-15 Organizational structure and staff changes.  Starting June 1st, the new organizational structure will begin, while allowing some time for transition in some areas. The club feels that the new organizational structure will ensure the proper amount of oversight for each of the programs, coaches and players.

Mark Simpson has been promoted to the new role of Director of Select Soccer.  Mark has been a part of Twins for nearly 10 years, and is excited to have the opportunity to oversee all of the soccer programs that Twins offers.  He will have a greater impact on the technical direction of the club, the continued education and improvement of the coaching staff, and the experience of players and families.

Chris Nugent has been promoted to the new role of Director of u11 to u14 Boys Select.  Chris has had a tremendous impact over the past year as a coach of 3 teams in the younger classic boys age groups, and he will now oversee not only the classic teams, but the challenge academy and challenge teams in these age groups.

Alex Douyon has been hired in the role of Director of u11 to u14 Girls Select.  Alex joins Twins from Lake Norman Soccer Club, where he served as the younger girls director.  Alex brings tremendous energy and coaching experience to the club.  He will be overseeing all classic, challenge academy and challenge teams in these age groups, as well as coaching 3 classic girls teams.

Mike Reilly has been promoted into the role of Director of u15 to u18 Select Programs.  Mike has recently served as the Director of Challenge, and in the past, was a Director of a youth soccer club, as well as a Division 1 college coach.  Mike will oversee all teams in the high school age groups, and is excited about the opportunity to continue to improve the experience for the players in these age groups.  He will be looking to incorporate some college prep work, psychological training, speed & strength training, as well as leadership training.

Patrick Bridges will continue in his role of Director of Youth Academy Programs, but will also be overseeing the technical direction of all programs from u4 to u10.  Patrick will be managing the Youth Academy, Hybrid Academy and Pre-Hybrid Academy, with the assistance of our new Assistant Directors of Coaching (announced below).  Patrick is currently on the North Carolina Youth Soccer Coaching staff and is looking forward to the opportunity to provide more coaching education in the Twins Recreation program in the u4 to u10 age groups.

Katherine Skarbek and Ethan Kilby have been promoted to Assistant Directors of Coaching.  Katherine has been a part of the club for over 5 years as a staff coach, and Ethan played for the club for many years before coming on board as a staff coach in the 2013-14 season.  Both will be coaching classic teams, as well as serving as Age Group Directors in the Youth Academy Program.  Katherine will also be involved in the social media marketing and alumni program at the club, and Ethan will be very involved in the relationship with Wake Forest Soccer programs.

Will Mack has been hired to serve in the newly formed role of Director of Operations.  Will comes to the club from Greensboro United Soccer Association, where he served as the Recreation Director.  Coach Mack will be involved in all facility and game scheduling for the club, manage the Adult League,  coach a u10 boys team, and coach the u14 NC Fusion US Development Academy team.

Dane Brenner, assistant coach of Wake Forest University’s Men’s Soccer Team, has been hired as the new Goalkeeping Director.  Dane brings a wealth of knowledge in the goalkeeper role from his time at Wake Forest University, as well as his time at the University of Connecticut.  Dane will also employ the services of Jeremy Ward and Ethan Kilby as Assistant Goalkeeper Coaches.

Manny Pereda has been hired in the newly formed role of Director of Hispanic Outreach.  Manny has been managing soccer leagues in the Winston Salem area for several years and has a desire to help young Hispanic players pursue their passion of player soccer.  He will help with translation for Spanish speaking families and assist in the growth of the Twins Foundation Fund.

Lauri Waddell joins the club as the new bookkeeper.  She brings a wealth of knowledge to the position as a former accountant, and a passion for the game of soccer through her two sons at Twins!

In other staff news, the NC Fusion is pleased to announce the hiring of Rusty Scarborough as its new Director of Soccer and Technical Advisor.  Rusty replaces Chris Little, who recently was announced as the Head Coach of the Elon University Men’s Soccer team.

While the club is excited to announce all of these staff changes, it is sad that Andy Tait will be leaving our club. Andy has been with Twins for 6 years in many different roles, most recently as the Girls Director of Coaching. Andy has had a tremendous impact on our program and players.  His style of coaching, personality, and hybrid English/American accent will be greatly missed!  We wish Andy, and his wife Brooke, the best as they move to Raleigh to be a part of the CASL organization.  Andy will stay on staff at Twins through June 15th, so that the tryout and team formation process remains as smooth as possible.

Due to these staff changes, some earlier published coaching assignments have been changed.  Although we have a few teams listed with TBD, we will look to fill those spots over the summer months to ensure each team has a highly qualified coach.
